Cara Janes cellist Talented young Sale cellist Cara Janes will be the star solo performer with the Lancashire Chamber Orchestra at their next matinee classical music concert in Altrincham on Sunday 26 March 2017. Cara, who is a former pupil at Chetham’s School of Music and is currently studying for a Masters degree at the Royal Northern College of Music, will perform Elgar’s haunting Cello Concerto. She has great experience of playing in concert halls in London and across northern England, is the principal cellist with the Piccadilly Symphony Orchestra and regularly tutors pupils at Altrincham Girls School and Chetham’s. Taking the baton for the first time with the Lancashire Chamber Orchestra will be London-based conductor Michael Young, who is travelling north especially for the concert. He will be conducting a popular programme which also includes Schubert’s Unfinished Symphony and Prokofiev’s delightful Peter and the Wolf, narrated by Ian Edmundson. Orchestra leader Anne Heaton said: “We are delighted to be able to offer a platform to Cara. The orchestra is very pleased to provide an opportunity for her to showcase her considerable talents in her local area. The programme is very engaging and we hope it will appeal to all ages.” The performance at Altrincham Grammar School for Girls, starts at 3pm.
